ANGER MANAGEMENT

Anger Management Evaluation / Treatment ProgramThis individualized program of increased self-awareness and skills training is intended for persons who seek to positively enhance and manage their emotional reactions to situations involving angry provocation. Individuals typically seek skills in controlling anger for a variety of reasons including:

  • Recognition of the need to improve a sense of emotional health and well-being
  • Significant others have expressed concern to enhance family life or relationships
  • Court or legal related issues warrant the completion of this protocol in an effort to satisfy rehabilitation requirements and/or as a preventative measure.
This Anger Management Evaluation /Treatment Program consists of one to two initial consultation sessions, followed by weekly sessions that are tailored to suit the needs of the individual. This multi-session, individualized protocol encompasses a SKILL-ORIENTED, DIDACTIC APPROACH to provide:

  • Assertiveness Training - Skills aimed at teaching how to vocalize and get your needs met.
  • Stress Management Skills - Self-pacing skills aimed at managing life’s basic demands.
  • Anger Control - Defining and identifying personal anger triggers, using anger effectively.
  • Communication Skills Training - Leaning to balance listening and talking with others.
  • Problem Solving Strategies - A step-wise approach geared toward creating solutions.
  • Stress Inoculation Techniques – Physical and emotional de-escalation skills based on hierarchy of personally identified stressors.
  • Physiological / Mental Relaxation - Facilitates better management of voluntary responses.
  • Antecedent / Behavior / Consequence Analysis – A cognitive-behavioral approach designed to put you in charge of your responses, versus allowing emotions to dictate reactions that lead to negative or punitive consequences
  • Coping Skills and Resources – Routine, practical, portable skills aimed at managing provocation.
  • Self-Nurturing Behaviors - Learning to practice better self-care on a routine basis.
Sessions are cumulative in that one informational session builds upon another, with typical once per week meetings unless otherwise arranged. This program spans a minimum of 8 weeks with extension to 16 weeks, contingent on patient compliance, participation and progress as observed by the supervising therapist.

NOTE: Documentation of completion of this program for court purposes or other needs is available upon request for an additional fee. Report writing and court liaison services are provided according to clinic routine fee schedules and policies.
